From the start, Ormazabal made a commitment to Innovation, by creating a New Products Department (R&D) to develop the most competitive solutions by anticipating our clients' needs. This drive to innovate has resulted in many patents, again demonstrating Ormazabal's technological independence.

Innovations in solutions, products and services have required many different technologies to be incorporated into our designs and processes. The opening of our Electro-technical Voltage Laboratory (HPL), with a capacity of up to 2500 MVA, has reinforced our Technological Development.

As our innovation process evolves, we are giving greater importance to research projects, increasing our ability to offer better solutions to our clients.

Our Innovation Milestones

• 1967 - Commitment to Technology. New Products Department (R&D) created
• 1985 - Prefabricated Monoblock Transformer Substation
• 1992 - Secondary Distribution Switchgear insulated in SF6, up to 36 kV, CGM-CGC System
• 1997 - Edison Prize for Technological Innovation
• 2007 - Primary Distribution Switchgear with a double busbar, CPG.1
• 2008 - Power Laboratory commissioned (2500 MVA)

This list has been considerably extended as a consequence of the historical contribution of the companies Ormazabal has acquired, including:

• 2000 - Cotradis, Distribution Transformers manufacturer
• 2004 - F&G, MV switchgear manufacturer, founded over 100 years ago (now Ormazabal Anlagentechnik).
